Moldovan President said this at a joint press conference with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who paid a working visit to Moldova on August 21. Maia Sandu highlighted the importance of the partnership with Germany, including by emphasizing that this country contributes to the creation of thousands of jobs through more than 400 companies with German capital operating in Moldova. “Germany implements assistance projects in a wide range of fields, such as modernization of public services, youth empowerment, development of social services. For example, by supporting 2 major water supply projects in Chisinau and Cahul, Germany is helping Moldova to improve the quality of life of its citizens. Germany also provided financial assistance of 40 million euros to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund for the heating season 2022-2023, a very difficult period for our country. In this way, 900 thousand households received subsidies for their electricity and heating bills. Also, Germany supports dual education in Moldova - programs of vocational training under the dual system are implemented in Chisinau, Hincesti, Comrat, Balti, Soroca and other localities,” the Moldovan head of state said. She also mentioned that the Moldovan-German partnership also covers the critical security fields, where Germany's support is crucial. Maia Sandu said that the Moldovan authorities are willing to further consolidate the economic relations with Germany. She invited German companies with experience in the renewable energy sector to participate in the first tender for the construction of wind and solar power plants. She also expressed gratitude to Germany for backing Moldova's European course and urged the Moldovan citizens living in Germany to participate in the October 20 referendum. For his part, the German chancellor reiterated the German authorities' willingness to continue backing Moldova on its European path. Olaf Scholz emphasized the numerous discussions with the Moldovan President, especially on the signing of new agreements, deepening the Moldovan-German cooperation, while the migration coordination procedure is an important topic for both sides. The German Federal Chancellor paid a working visit to Moldova on August 21, at the invitation of President Maia Sandu.
