Moldova to optimize the process of food products import and placement on the market
This was stated during the meeting of the Working Group 1 “Elimination of restrictions in business activity”, organized jointly with the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA), held within the Economic Council under the Prime Minister. This working group is chaired by the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova). The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation and identify effective solutions to optimize the process of import and placement of food products on the Moldovan market. The issues discussed included clarifying the applicable requirements and procedures, facilitating compliance by economic operators and increasing predictability in relations with the regulatory authority. An important topic discussed was the labeling of imported products. The necessity of labeling the products in accordance with the Moldovan legislation was emphasized. Attending the event, Vasile Sarban, State Secretary of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, emphasized that the labeling is important to inform the buyer and ensure transparency on the market. He stressed that proper labeling of imported products contributes to consumer protection and compliance with food safety standards. The two sides also discussed issues related to the coordination of veterinary certificates for cattle and sheep with other countries, as well as the additional cost of analyzing some imported food products for all importers. ANSA Director General Radu Musteata emphasized that the implementation of these measures is necessary to ensure compliance with sanitary norms. He emphasized that all these initiatives are aimed at improving the traceability of food products. The ANSA Director General stressed the importance of the meeting, noting that the main goal is to create a favorable climate for entrepreneurs by removing bureaucratic barriers and ensuring greater transparency in relations with the authorities. Radu Musteata called for cooperation between public authorities and economic agents, stressing that it is crucial that rules and regulations are well communicated and uniformly applied. The topics discussed during the meeting are to be discussed in detail by the economic agents, ANSA and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
