Moldova’s trade deficit for January–March 2026 amounted to €1.6046 billion, down 2.6% (€43.7 million) to the same period in 2025
According to information provided to InfoMarket agency by the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS), Moldova’s trade deficit in March alone amounted to €634.3 million, which is €97.6 million (18.2%) higher than the previous month’s figure and €22.8 million (3.7%) higher than the figure for March of the previous year. Overall, in January–March 2026, compared to the same period in 2025, Moldova’s trade deficit with European Union countries decreased by 0.8% to €861.4 million, with CIS countries it fell by 34.5% to €24.5 million, and with other countries it decreased by 3.4% to €721.8 million. According to the BNS, Moldova’s largest trade deficit for the first three months of 2026 was with Romania—€393.5 million (-7.4% compared to the same period in 2025). At the same time, Moldova’s trade deficit with China amounted to €211.1 million (+7.8%), with Germany – €116.8 million (-3.6%), with Ukraine – €89.1 million (-19.4%), Poland – €54.3 million (-7.9%), France – €49.8 million (-9.1%), Croatia – €44.9 million (a 2.3-fold increase), Hungary – €42.2 million (+18.5%), Spain – €34.9 million (-5.9%), Russia – €34.5 million (+34.3%). // 15.05.2026 – InfoMarket.
