The EU is allocating a €20 million grant to Moldova for the reconstruction of several sections of the North-South railway corridor along the route Valcinet-Ocnita–Balti-Ungheni-Chisinau–Cainari

This was discussed during a meeting held in Brussels between Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Peter Wagner, Director of the European Commission’s Foreign Policy Instruments Service, during which EU-funded railway infrastructure projects were discussed. A key topic of discussions was a €20 million European grant allocated under the Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI) for the reconstruction of certain sections of the North-South railway corridor along the route Valcinet-Ocnita–Balti-Ungheni-Chișinau–Cainari. The parties discussed the prospects for using European assistance to implement the North-South railway line modernization project and to strengthen cooperation in the field of transport. In Brussels, Vladimir Bolea will also hold meetings with representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) on cooperation in the field of transport and the development of transport infrastructure. // 12.06.2026 — InfoMarket
