
Moldova's progress on Chapter 9 “Financial Services” was analyzed in Brussels within a bilateral screening meeting
The Finance Ministry announced this, noting that the meeting was held in a hybrid format and was attended by representatives of the State Chancellery, the Finance Ministry, the National Bank of Moldova, the National Financial Market Commission and the Bank Deposits Guarantee Fund. On behalf of the Finance Ministry, present in Brussels were State Secretary Cristina Ixari, who heads the working group on Chapter 9, and the head of the Financial Sector Regulation Department, secretary of this working group, Ana Litocenco. During the Brussels event, national and European legislation applicable to this negotiating chapter was presented in detail, focusing on specific aspects in the areas of banking, capital markets, digital financial services, insurance, sustainable finance and optional pensions. The presentations covered detailed descriptions of the implementation of these regulations, the challenges and opportunities in each sector, and related future plans. According to the Ministry of Finance, Moldova's participation in this bilateral screening reflects the authorities' strong commitment to advance the EU accession process. Constructive dialogue with European experts and analysis of the legislation applicable to Chapter 9 are important steps in harmonizing the national regulatory framework with European standards.
