We plan to promote specific areas of tourism, including medical tourism - Dorin Recean

Prime Minister made this statement at a meeting with representatives of a number of relevant associations, where they discussed the possibilities of using Moldova's tourism potential, the difficulties faced by organizations in this area, and the prospects for the development of the industry. Dorin Recean noted that tourism is a strategic direction for the country's economic development, emphasizing the importance of effective management of the sector, including in the context of Moldova's European agenda. "We must continue to invest in this sector and promote Moldova as a competitive destination. We have much to be proud of: our traditions, fine wines and cuisine, quality service, and hospitable people," Prime Minister said. According to him, the authorities' efforts will focus on measures to stimulate specific types of tourism, including medical tourism, infrastructure restoration and construction of roads adjacent to tourist routes, investment in local development, as well as the provision of grants to organizations investing in historical monuments or the development of natural monuments. During the discussions, the need to develop a National Tourism Development Strategy and the importance of modernizing the LEADER program, which supports the development of rural communities, were discussed. The importance of introducing a Digital Tourism Register, creating a National Tourism Fund, and introducing tourist vouchers as a tool to support domestic tourism was also discussed. // 20.08.2025 — InfoMarket
