
The World Bank will support Moldova in strengthening an effective, transparent, and results-oriented public procurement system
World Bank representatives announced this during their mission to support the effectiveness of public procurement. According to the Ministry of Finance, from October 13 to 17, the World Bank team is conducting a mission to support the implementation of Supporting Public Procurement Efficiency and Value for Money in Moldova Project financed by the multilateral trust fund “Moldova - Growth, Resilience, and Opportunities for Well-being” (M-GROW). At the opening of the mission, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance Ana Luca noted that modernizing the public procurement system is an important step towards more efficient use of public funds and the creation of a process based on transparency, integrity, and results. She thanked the World Bank for its support, which helps the Ministry of Finance strengthen its institutional capacity and develop a modern, digital, and results-oriented public procurement system. In turn, World Bank representatives reaffirmed the institution's commitment to supporting Moldova in strengthening an effective, transparent, and results-oriented public procurement system that ensures more efficient use of funds and tangible benefits for citizens. The purpose of the visit is to assess the implementation stage of the project and identify support measures for modernizing the electronic public procurement system. During the mission, World Bank experts are discussing with the Ministry of Finance, the Public Procurement Agency, the Center for Information Technology in Finance, and other central institutions and local authorities issues related to planning activities, improving processes, and strengthening institutional capacity. Also, as part of the mission, on October 16-17, the World Bank team is holding a seminar on “Monitoring Public Procurement: Practice, Experience, and Innovative Approaches,” which will be attended by representatives of government agencies and development partners to discuss best practices and modern solutions in the field of public procurement monitoring. // 16.10.2025 — InfoMarket
