Moldova’s national budget deficit in the first half of 2026 amounted to 9 billion 208.6 million lei, which is 1 billion 598.7 million lei (21%) higher than the figure for the same period in 2025
According to information provided to the InfoMarket agency by the Ministry of Finance, the sources of funding for the deficit for the first 6 months 2026 were as follows: domestic sources—8 billion 552.2 million lei; external sources—2 billion 370.4 million lei; and a change in the cash balance of minus 1 billion 714 million lei.
