For 9 months in 2021, the Moldovan HPP increased electricity production by 4.9% - up to 3 billion 650.9 kWh relative to the same period in 2020.
At the same time, the utilization factor of the hydropower plant’s installed capacity (2520 MW) increased over the specified period from 21% to 22.12%. In the fuel balance of the plant, the share of gas in January-September amounted to 99.54%, coal - 0.35%, fuel oil - 0.11% (a year earlier - 99.95%; 0.01%; 0.04%, respectively). As noted by the Moldovan HPP, the increase in electricity generation for 9 months in 2021 was associated with an increase in its consumption by enterprises of Transnistria, as well as with an increase in the volume of electricity supplies to the right bank of the Dniester, which in Tiraspol is regarded as “export to Moldova”. The Moldovan HPP is located in Transnistria on the western bank of the Cuciurgan estuary. The installed capacity of the power plant is 2520 MW. The Moldovan HPP was put into operation in 1964. The power plant consists of 12 power units and operates on three types of fuel: coal, gas and fuel oil.
