As noted by the ministry, the decision to reject the proposal was made because this company cannot be approved by Moldova for reasons of national security. Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu explained that, starting November 21, Lukoil will not be able to supply gasoline, diesel fuel, and kerosene as a result of sanctions imposed by the US in October, the freezing of the company's accounts and assets, and the US Treasury Department's refusal to approve its sale to Gunvor.
