Moldova’s new tax system should be more transparent, more equitable, and encourage work and investment—Alexandru Munteanu
The Prime Minister made this statement while commenting on the draft tax policy for next year, which the Ministry of Finance has submitted for public consultations. According to him, with the draft tax policy for 2027, the authorities aim to create a simpler tax mechanism that will ensure fairness and transparency and stimulate investment. “We must be confident that Moldova is moving forward and that we are fulfilling our commitments. That is why we are launching consultations on tax reform. I know this is difficult; I know that much of it is unclear to many, but in reality, we are striving for a simpler system. In my experience, simpler things generally work better. The system must be more transparent, more fair, and encourage work and investment,” stated Alexandru Munteanu. He emphasized that the draft tax policy for 2027 will be reviewed during consultations with the business community, non-governmental organizations, social partners, and the IMF. “We advocate for a strong economy, and that isn’t built in a day. There is much to be done, and we continue to work toward this goal,” concluded Alexandru Munteanu. // 12.06.2026 — InfoMarket
