Annual inflation in Moldova in February amounted to 5.06%, remaining within ±1.5 percentage points of the 5% target for the second month in a row - the National Bank of Moldova

This was stated in the National Bank of Moldova's materials regarding the latest decision of its Executive Committee to maintain the base rate, applied to the main short-term monetary policy operations, at 5% per annum. The NBM noted that annual inflation in February amounted to 5.06%, 0.22 percentage points higher than the previous month and close to the medium-term inflation target of 5%. Moreover, for the second month in a row, the annual inflation rate remained within ±1.5 percentage points of the target. The National Bank noted that the inflation dynamics in February were slightly higher than expected in the forecast published in the February Inflation Review. In February, the annual inflation rate was driven primarily by rising food prices, core inflation, and fuel prices, partially mitigated by a reduction in regulated prices. Aggregate demand maintained its disinflationary impact on prices during the period under review. // 19.03.2026 — InfoMarket.
