The EBRD has denied reports of talks on the possible sale of its stake in the Giurgiulesti International Free Port.
According to a statement from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, recent media reports on the future of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port have erroneously suggested that there may be talks on the sale of the EBRD's stake in the port to buyers ranging from the Romanian government to a Ukrainian company. "These stories have no basis in truth. The EBRD's strategic objective remains to find a reputable investor who will develop the Giurgiulesti International Free Port to its full potential in the medium to long term. In this context, we are conducting intensive consultations with the Moldovan authorities on the future of the port, including further investment and development in the area," the EBRD said in a statement. It should be noted that the general investor and operator of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port - the main sea inland water port of Moldova - is Danube Logistics SRL. Since 2005, Danube Logistics has turned the Giurgiulesti International Free Port into one of the most successful ports on the Danube, promoting the trade activities of Moldovan companies on international markets. Danube Logistics SRL is fully owned by the Dutch company Danube Logistics Holding BV. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is the sole ultimate owner of Danube Logistics Group. // 26.04.2024 - InfoMarket.
