AmCham Moldova proposes revising the law on credit bureaus
The business community has made a number of comments and suggestions regarding the draft law on the activities of credit bureaus, stating the need for clearer, proportionate, and technically feasible regulation to modernize the credit market infrastructure and improve the quality of borrower information exchange. The organization stated that the proposed law is an important step towards improving the reporting mechanisms and use of credit information, but requires additional clarification given the direct impact of the new rules on lenders, data providers, credit bureaus, and consumers of financial services. AmCham proposes introducing minimum standards for data quality and traceability, unifying reporting and information exchange structures, ensuring a clearer distribution of responsibilities between market participants, and regulating cases of objective technical impossibility of compliance. The business community also noted the need for transition periods for the implementation of new obligations to allow market participants to adapt IT systems and operational processes without the risk of disruptions. In its appeal to the authorities, AmCham proposes measures to improve the compatibility of information systems, strengthen the protection of the rights of credit history subjects, increase the transparency of credit scoring mechanisms (assessing the reliability of borrowers), and maintain a balance between compliance requirements and the real possibilities of their practical implementation.// 15.06.2026 – InfoMarket.
