Serious shortcomings of financial nature were revealed in the activity of Air Moldova airline, which could disrupt its uninterrupted operation.
The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) stated this while announcing the completion of an unscheduled inspection carried out at Air Moldova. It is noted that during the control activity serious deficiencies of financial nature were identified, which could disrupt the smooth operation of the operator and the safety of planned air operations. As a result of the control, the operator has been classified as risk group IV, which, according to PIAC-OPS Civil Aviation Rules and Regulations, represents a situation in which: "the operator has major financial difficulties, facing financial stability problems and the potential risk of insolvency, and it is necessary to immediately start the risk management process and closely monitor all the aspects of interest and use the assessment and/or continuous monitoring tool for further determination of the next steps. In this regard, the AAC issued an inspection order requiring Air Moldova to develop and submit for approval to the AAC a corrective action plan, which would identify actions to remedy the unsustainable financial situation to ensure the proper functioning of the air operator. In the same way, an extensive risk assessment was conducted in order to ensure compliance with the national regulatory framework regarding certification requirements. AAC highlighted that Air Moldova had launched an advertising campaign for sale of tickets for summer season 2023, with no flight schedule approved by the authorities and for some destinations - with no authorization to perform scheduled flights. Thus, taking into account the results of unannounced inspection, AAC required Air Moldova to suspend the sale of tickets to destinations where there is no duly approved flight schedule and / or permit for regular flights. However, in order to establish all the circumstances and possible liability of the persons responsible for these violations, AAC appealed to the law enforcement bodies. // 25.11.2022 - InfoMarket.
