Maib continues to earn recognition for fiscal responsibility and contribution to the development of the Moldovan economy

At maib, we believe that a bank’s success cannot be separated from the success of the economy and society in which it operates. The more important an institution’s role, the greater its responsibility. That is why we contribute to the development of the Republic of Moldova not only by financing people and businesses, but also through the way we fulfil our obligations towards the state and society. Through the jobs we create, our investments in innovation, and our responsible contribution to the National Public Budget, we support the development of a stronger economy and a more prosperous future for the country.

Maib was awarded the title of “High-Credibility Taxpayer”, a recognition granted to companies that demonstrate a high level of tax compliance, transparency, and responsibility toward the state and society.
The award was presented at the 2026 Honest Taxpayer Gala, organized by the State Tax Service to mark the 36th anniversary of the institution’s founding. The event brought together companies that consistently contribute to strengthening the National Public Budget and to the sustainable development of the Republic of Moldova.
This award confirms how maib understands the role of a leading bank: to create value for clients, shareholders, and society as a whole. A bank’s responsibility is reflected both in the services and solutions it offers to clients and in its contribution to the country’s economic development and well-being.

With over 2,500 employees, maib contributes to economic development both through the jobs it creates and through its role as one of the largest taxpayers. The taxes and fees paid by the bank support public investments, infrastructure, education, and the development of a stable and competitive economic environment.

Stela Recean, Vice President of maib, stated:
“Leadership comes with the responsibility to create value not only for clients and shareholders, but also for society as a whole. Compliance with tax obligations is a natural expression of how we understand doing banking: transparently, ethically, and with a focus on impact. This distinction confirms our commitment to contributing to the development of the Republic of Moldova both through the financial solutions we offer our clients and through our role as an employer, investor, and one of the main contributors to the state budget.”

For 35 years, maib has been consistently investing in digitalization, innovation, and the development of financial services, contributing to a more competitive, resilient, and prosperous economy. The “High-Credibility Taxpayer” award, previously granted to the bank in past editions, reaffirms that sustainable performance is built on transparency, integrity, and responsibility.
The title is awarded annually by the State Tax Service to companies that demonstrate a high level of tax compliance, based on criteria related to tax discipline, a significant contribution to the National Public Budget, an impeccable tax history, and employee compensation above the national average.
