The Moldovan government plans to pay early compensation to Moldovagaz from the budget for household consumers for January, February and, possibly, March.
Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita stated this while speaking in Parliament on Thursday. She said that, according to available estimates, the amount of compensation from the budget for household consumers in January will be approximately 200 million lei, in February - 150 million lei, in March - 150-200 million lei. "We are now calculating what amounts will be needed for the early payment of compensation. They will be paid in absentia, not as compensation for a certain month. The payments of consumers will indicate the existing gas compensation due to them. But the government will pay these amounts to Moldovagaz in advance," said the head of the Cabinet. According to her, if the gas tariff rises, then there are scenarios for increasing compensation. "The law provides for a certain interest rate to compensate for the growth of the tariff. If there is an increase in the tariff, then the amount of compensation will also increase in monetary terms, since the interest rate to cover the difference will remain the same.
