The Moldovagaz company predicts the average price for Russian gas supplied to Moldova in 2022 at $620.1 per 1,000 cubic meters.

The Moldovagaz company predicts the average price for Russian gas supplied to Moldova in 2022 at $620.1 per 1,000 cubic meters.

As follows from the materials of the company submitted to the National Agency for Energy Regulation for consideration and approval of new tariffs for natural gas for end consumers, it was with this average purchase price of gas that Moldovagaz calculated new gas tariffs for consumers. The current gas tariff for end consumers included the average gas price in 2022 at $430.15 per 1,000 cubic meters. Thus, the new tariff includes the average purchase price for gas, which is $189.95 (+44.2%) higher than the previous forecast figure. The exchange rate was also adjusted, and for new gas tariffs it is proposed to use the rate of 18.33 lei per $1 instead of the previous 17.68 lei per $1. (+3.7%). At the same time, according to the materials presented by NAER, Moldovagaz increased by 1% the projected volume of gas supplies to consumers on the right bank of the Dniester - from 1 billion 177.01 million to 1 billion 188.2 million cubic meters. As InfoMarket agency reported earlier, the Moldovagaz company asked NAER to increase the tariff for gas supply to household consumers by almost 41% - up to 15.59 lei per 1 cubic meter including VAT. In particular, the company sent a request to the National Agency for Energy Regulation to increase the average tariff for the supply of natural gas to end consumers at regulated prices in 2022 by 45.4% - from 9227 to 13418 lei per 1 thousand cubic meters. Thus, the tariff for natural gas at the points of exit from low-pressure gas distribution networks (for residential consumers) is proposed to be increased by 41.6% - from 10,196 to 14,437 lei per 1 thousand cubic meters, medium pressure - by 49.4% - from 8586 to 12827 lei, and high pressure - by 51.3% - from 8268 to 12509 lei per thousand cubic meters. In the case of gas transmission networks, the tariff is proposed to be increased by 54.3% - from 7,771 to 11,987 lei per 1,000 cubic meters at entry points, and by 52.6% - from 8059 to 12296 lei at exit points. According to Moldovagaz, the main factor that necessitated the revision of tariffs was a significant increase in purchase prices. This decision is in strict accordance with the law, it will allow to fully cover the cost of gas purchases and, thus, ensure the fulfillment of contractual payment obligations to the supplier. According to the calculations of Moldovagaz, the new tariffs should come into force starting from January 1, 2022. The tariff for natural gas at regulated prices is approved by NAER within the framework of an open meeting. It should be noted that if the NAER approves the tariffs proposed by Moldovagaz at the same level, the price of gas for household consumers will increase by almost 41% - from 11.08 to 15.59 lei per 1 cubic meter including VAT. As reported, the purchase price of natural gas received by Moldovagaz from Gazprom in January 2022 amounted to $646 per 1,000 cubic meters and was established on the basis of the formula for its calculation included in the current contract. Its increase, compared to the November and December prices, is due to the continued growth of quotations on European gas exchanges, as well as the cost of a basket of petroleum products, to which the purchase price of gas is tied.// 24.01.2022 — InfoMarket.
