Moldova for the first time participates in the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development said this, noting that the 8th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue conference is taking place in Berlin on March 29-30. The event is attended by energy ministers and high-level delegations from more than 50 countries. The motto of the forum is "Energy Transition - from ambition to action". Moldova participates in the conference for the first time. Moldova is represented at the conference by Secretary General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija and State Secretary of this ministry in the energy sector Constantin Borosan. The agenda of the event includes topics related to global energy security, intelligent transformation of energy systems around the world and solutions to achieve greater independence from fossil fuels, as well as climate and environmental impacts. During the panel discussion "Reasons for a fair and social energy transition," Secretary of State Constantin Borosan spoke about the measures taken by the Moldovan government during the current energy crisis. He noted that the Moldovan government's overall objective is to mitigate the impact of rising energy prices on household consumers, especially the most vulnerable social groups, by compensating their gas bills and supporting consumers to pay their heating bills in the period from November 2021 to March 2022. The State Secretary noted that an important step in ensuring long-term energy security was the amendment of the national legislation on natural gas. For example, the government approved draft amendments to the Natural Gas Law, which stipulate the obligation of suppliers to build gas reserves. Regarding electricity, the Secretary of State said that the recent synchronization of the grid with the ENTSO-E grid ensures the safe operation of the national grid. To ensure a fair and social transition, the secretary of state stressed the importance of taking into account that developing countries need access to flexible financial technologies and tools. He noted that Moldova has set an ambitious goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and will work to move from ambition to concrete action. The Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue has been held annually since 2015 under the auspices of the German Federal Government in partnership with the German Federation of Renewable Energy Sources, the German Solar Energy Association and the German Energy Agency. // 30.03.2022 - InfoMarket
