Almost 40,000 households across the country have reduced their electricity bills by up to 30% over the past two years thanks to the government's EcoVoucher program
As reported by the Ministry of Energy, this initiative helps families replace old appliances with modern, energy-efficient ones. Since the beginning of 2025, with the support of Norway, the EcoVoucher program has provided support to 25,187 families, who received vouchers worth 6,000 lei to purchase refrigerators and washing machines that meet energy efficiency standards and the European standard of conformity (CE). The vouchers cover up to 70% of the cost of new appliances, which are delivered free of charge, while the old ones are taken away for recycling. Beneficiaries were selected based on eligibility criteria and data collected on the website compensatii.gov.md. Beneficiaries who replaced their old appliances report lower bills, increased comfort in their homes, and increased interest in energy-efficient appliances. The EcoVoucher program was developed by the Moldovan government with the support of the European Union. This version of the Household Appliance Voucher Program is being implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy as part of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies for Moldova (E4M) project. E4M is a project implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the Moldovan government, financed by the German government and co-financed by the EU, Norway, and Denmark. The current version of the Household Appliance Voucher Program is financed by Norway. // 11.11.2025 — InfoMarket.
