The State Tax Service of Moldova reported that it had generated and sent 2,819 notices regarding the payment of the single tax for May to individuals engaged in independent activities (freelancers). The notices were sent to the email addresses provided during registration and are also available in the taxpayer’s personal account and the EVO app. According to the agency, in May, independent entrepreneurs reported income of 36.1 million lei, and the amount of the single tax assessed was 5.42 million lei. However, only 46.5% of independent entrepreneurs conducted transactions through special bank accounts designated for this type of activity. Of these, 48 taxpayers used cash registers connected to the electronic sales monitoring system (SIA MEV), and the total amount of cash receipts through such devices amounted to 757,600 lei. As of June 10, 2,844 independent entrepreneurs were registered in the National Tax Service’s information system, and total single tax revenues from freelancers reached nearly 9.6 million lei. The National Tax Service reminds taxpayers that June 25 is the deadline for paying the single tax for May. Payment is available via the MPay platform (service “Single Tax Levied on Independent Entrepreneurs (Freelancers)”). The tax rate is 15% if annual income does not exceed 1.2 million lei, and 35% on the portion of income exceeding this threshold. The collected funds are distributed as follows: 31.3% goes to local budgets (including local fees), 53.3% to the state social insurance budget, and 15.4% to mandatory health insurance funds. // 11.06.2026 — InfoMarket.
