ANRE approved the issuance of a new 6-month license to the Moldovan HPP for electricity production.
As noted in the message of the energy regulator, in addition, at its last meeting, the Administrative Council of the National Agency for Energy Regulation also approved the issuance of a license to STAR ENERGY GROUP LLC for electricity supply activities. It should be noted that the Moldovan HPP, located in Transnistria, on the western bank of the Cuciurgan estuary, is 100% owned by the Russian group Inter RAO, a diversified energy holding operating in various segments of the electric power industry in Russia and abroad. Earlier, representatives of the Russian Ministry of Energy noted that the Moldovan HPP wants to obtain a long-term license to operate on the Moldovan market. They pointed out that currently the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova issues licenses to Moldovan HPP for a period of only 6 months, and noted that in order to ensure long-term planning and organization of uninterrupted electricity supplies, the Moldovan side needs to provide the Moldovan HPP, as an equal participant in the electricity market, uniform conditions for licensing and concluding medium-term contracts for the supply of electricity. It was also emphasized that the Moldovan HPP is also interested in the supply of electricity to the European market. At the same time, in the final protocol of the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Moldova and Russia, held in Chisinau in 2019, it was stated that the Moldovan authorities would consider the possibility of creating conditions for the Moldovan HPP for equal participation and access to the infrastructure of the Moldovan electricity market, and to ensure consistent licensing approaches. // 13.01.2022 - InfoMarket
