NAER will send the Competition Council a Report on the results of the investigation on the electricity market for consideration from the point of view of competition law.

This was reported by the National Agency for Energy Regulation, noting that the NAER Administrative Council, at a regular meeting on April 12, considered the Report on the results of the investigation in the electricity market to clarify the circumstances that led to the inability of Furnizare Energie license holders to supply electricity to end consumers starting December 4, 2021. An investigation on the electricity market was initiated by NAER to find out the reasons that led to the refusal of the manufacturer, Moldavskaya GRES, to supply electricity to Furnizare Energie, as well as the reasons why the supplier could not fulfill its contractual obligations to end consumers. In the process of analyzing the materials submitted by the involved participants in the electricity market, the agency focused on compliance by Moldavskaya GRES and Furnizare Energie with contractual obligations to supply electricity to universal service providers and the guaranteeing supplier and system operators, as well as on the prevention of abuse in relations with commercial partners that may create competitive disadvantages. Thus, in accordance with the powers of ANRE to promote, monitor and ensure transparency and competition in the electricity market, the agency will submit a report on the results of the study of the electricity market to the Competition Council within 7 days for its consideration in the light of competition law.// 12.04.2022 — InfoMarket
