ANRE has approved the creation of an electronic platform for natural gas trading operated by BRM East Energy.

ANRE has approved the creation of an electronic platform for natural gas trading operated by BRM East Energy.

According to the National Energy Regulatory Agency's (ANRE) Management Board, BRM East Energy will operate the platform for 3 years. Under the provisions of the Natural Gas Grid Code, through the electronic platform, bidders can place and accept bids for the purchase/sale of natural gas. It is necessary to respond to short-term fluctuations in natural gas market demand or supply, in accordance with the terms and conditions applicable to the trading platform. These conditions will be approved later, as their establishment is conditional on the establishment of the balancing platform by the balancing entity, as well as the procedures applicable to it. It is worth mentioning that within 6 months from the entry into force of ANRE's decision to create a natural gas trading platform in Moldova, BRM East Energy will submit to the energy regulator the terms and conditions applicable to the trading platform and the contract concluded with the balancing organization. BRM East Energy in its operation of the trading platform will comply with the requirements of the legislation regarding commodity exchanges and ANRE regulations. The company has already presented the Rules for trading on BRM platforms for the two markets on which it plans to operate in Moldova, namely the spot market (day-ahead market and intraday market) and the market of standardized products in the medium and long term. BRM East Energy also presented the amount of commission for access to the trading platform for users of the system in Moldova, which, according to their calculations, should be 0.010 Moldovan lei (MDL) per each MWh sold in 2022-2024. ANRE's decision to create the platform will take effect upon publication in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova). To remind, BRM East Energy is a subsidiary of the Romanian Commodity Exchange with over 10 years of experience on the Romanian natural gas market, acting as an integrated operator for all markets: spot, forward, futures and balancing. BRM manages the balancing market in Romania on behalf of the National Natural Gas Transmission Company Transgaz since 2019, providing a high-performance balancing platform. The company was opened in our country at the end of October 2021. According to Gabriel Purice, President of the Romanian Commodities Exchange, once all regulatory aspects are clarified, BRM East Energy will be able to manage the balancing market as well as other gas markets, such as the day-ahead, intraday, monthly, quarterly and annual markets. // 07.04.2022 – InfoMarket
