Four regions of Moldova are participating in a pilot initiative to implement an energy management system, implemented within the framework of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for Moldova (E4M) project

These regions include: Rîșcani, Glodeni, Fălești, Sângerei, and Bălți districts (Region 4); Drochia, Florești, and Soroca districts (Region 2); Ungheni, Nisporeni, and Călarăși districts (Region 5); and Anenii Noi, Causeni, and Ștefan Voda districts (Region 7). According to GIZ Moldova, in practice, energy management involves: monitoring energy consumption in public institutions; collecting and analyzing energy data; identifying energy efficiency measures to reduce costs; and modernizing public infrastructure. In all four regions, energy management services will be provided by selected non-governmental organizations.
