Moldova’s Ministry of Agriculture will deal with raising financial resources to help enterprises in the construction of wastewater treatment plants.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea announced this during a working meeting between the food industry and the authorities, at which the problems of food industry processors in meeting the requirements for wastewater treatment were discussed. According to the legislation, processors can only engage in licensed activities if they have their own wastewater pretreatment/treatment stations. This is necessary to protect the environment and human health. According to some processors, it would be too expensive to build a wastewater treatment plant, and for some manufacturing plants, designing a treatment plant is impossible because they operate in the city, near apartment buildings. "We need to ensure that all processes are carried out in accordance with legal requirements, and we need to help economic agents comply with them. We need to establish a transition phase with specific timelines in which recyclers will take the necessary steps. Everyone must reduce the impact of production processes on the environment. We will deal with attracting financial resources to help companies build wastewater treatment plants. At the same time, we will have to find individual solutions for those who face technical difficulties in the construction of sewage treatment plants,"said Vladimir Bolea. At present, according to the data provided by Apă Canal Chișinău, more than 260 economic agents in the municipality have exceeded the maximum permissible concentration of pollutants in wastewater. At the same time, some enterprises have initiated projects to build wastewater treatment plants. // 24.08.2022 - InfoMarket.
