The draft terms of reference for the audit of the historical debt of Moldovagaz for the Russian gas was submitted to Gazprom.
Soon it is planned to announce the competition itself for the selection of an audit company. The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu announced this while speaking on the air of one of the TV channels. He noted that the draft of the mentioned terms of reference was presented to representatives of Gazprom during the meeting of the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz held on January 17. “It is expected that this document will be published before the end of this week, and the Public Property Agency will announce a competition to select an audit company to conduct an independent audit of the historical debt of Moldovagaz to Gazprom and Factoring Finance for the gas supplied to the right bank of the Dniester. We hope that the audit will be completed by May 1, 2022, as we agreed earlier with Gazprom, but this period can be extended by the parties if necessary,” Andrei Spinu said, noting that it is important to eventually resolve the existing problems and find right decisions. Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that until the completion of the mentioned audit, the Moldovan side would not discuss the issue of paying off the historic debt to Gazprom. Previously, Gazprom spoke about the historical gas debt of the right bank of the Dniester totaling over $700 million. “We agreed to conduct an audit to find out how this historical debt was formed and what the real debt amount is. Then Moldovagaz and Gazprom will have to find a compromise to restructure the debt within 5 years," Andrei Spinu said earlier. At the same time, he noted that Chisinau is not discussing with Moscow the repayment of the debt for the gas consumed by Transnistria. // 18.01.2022- InfoMarket.
