Prices for oil products in Moldova continue to increase due to the growth of world oil prices against the backdrop of recent events in the region - NAER.
This was stated by the National Agency for Energy Regulation, noting that the events in the region that took place in recent days had a direct impact on world oil prices and, consequently, on the prices of oil products obtained from it. As noted, in particular, at the end of last week, preliminary forecasts of fuel prices indicated the prospect of a slowdown in growth and a possible decline, which was also reflected in the slightly decreasing maximum prices set by NAER. But, unfortunately, since February 21, the deterioration of the situation in Ukraine unexpectedly provoked a strong increase in quotations for oil products and other energy resources. According to international experts, geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe have shaken the markets and pushed the price of a barrel of oil to almost $100. A possible conflict in Ukraine or sanctions against Russia could affect the supply of raw materials such as oil, gas, aluminum and wheat. Growth in demand and reduction in world reserves of oil and petroleum products also fueled the upward trend in quotations. NAER assures consumers that only events on the international market affect the prices they set for petroleum products, and the possibility of oil companies interfering in the process of setting them by unreasonably raising. // 23.02.2022 — InfoMarket
