The energy systems of Moldova and Ukraine continue to operate in an isolated mode after the end of the testing period.
Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu announced this, noting that tests for the isolation of systems from February 24 to February 26 passed without incident or failure. “In this regard, we support Ukraine's position to maintain isolated work and accelerate the process of full synchronous connection of the national energy system to the ENTSO-E network of Continental Europe,” Andrei Spinu said. He informed the citizens that the power supply system of Moldova is operating normally, without incidents or accidents. It should be noted that the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine refused to connect to the energy networks of Russia and Belarus after the completion of work in an isolated mode together with the energy system of Moldova. Such a decree was signed by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Glushchenko. He noted that while Russia launched a military invasion in Ukraine, his country's power system was testing operation in isolation from the Russian and Belarusian power systems. “Autonomous operation of the Ukrainian energy system on February 24-26 was successful and proved the ability to work in an isolated mode. And all this in the conditions of rocket attacks, stubborn battles and enemy attempts to attack critical infrastructure facilities. The Ukrainian energy system has proven its ability to maintain the required frequency of 50 Hz in various operating modes and the reliability and security of energy supply to Ukrainian consumers even in the face of military aggression. I express gratitude to the NPC "Ukrenergo" operator for the professionally performed work and dispatch control in extremely difficult conditions. I am grateful to all energy enterprises for providing resource, technical and technological work of the energy system!” said the head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. According to him, the return of the Ukrainian energy system to the network united with Russia and Belarus after the tests was scheduled for February 27, but the events that occurred with the Russian invasion in Ukraine corrected Kyiv's plans. “I signed an order from the Ministry of Energy to refuse to join the Russian energy grid and plan to turn to the energy ministers of European countries for assistance in speeding up the decision to merge the Ukrainian energy system to the European one. Technically and technologically, we have proven our ability. Politically - the decision is to be taken by the governments of the European countries. The United Energy System of Ukraine has sufficient power reserve and has demonstrated its stability. There are now 10 nuclear power plants in operation, hydro generation is operating, and thermal power plants of both state and private ownership have built up sufficient coal reserves for the successful completion of the heating season and ensure the generation of the required amount of electricity and power control,” the minister stressed. // 28.02.2022 – InfoMarket
