Moldova, in the event of a possible cessation of electricity supplies from the Moldavskaya GRES, will most likely purchase electricity from Ukraine.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spinu. He noted that electricity prices in Ukraine before the war were $100-120 per MW/h, and it was twice as expensive as that of the Moldavskaya GRES, which sells electricity to the right bank of the Dniester at $53.5 per MW/h. “But now in Ukraine the normal market in the form in which it worked before the war is closed, so the price is now $70-80 per MWh. But this is a matter for future negotiations. Now in Ukraine there are no problems with capacities and supplies. Many economic sectors there were suspended or destroyed. Therefore, the consumption of electricity in Ukraine has decreased, the demand for it has fallen, and now there are opportunities to supply electricity to Moldova,” Andrei Spinu said. According to him, the tariff for end users will depend on the purchase price. Herewith, the vice-premier noted that in case of purchasing electricity from Ukraine for $100-120 per MW/h, the final tariff for residential users may exceed 3 lei per 1 kW/h.// 15.04.2022 — InfoMarket
