Fuel in Moldova continues to grow in price against the backdrop of rising quotations on international exchanges and the exchange rate of the national currency – ANRE.
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) reported this, noting that petrol and diesel prices have increased steadily over the last 14 days, from $1008 to $1157 per ton of petrol and from $1066 to $1205 per ton of diesel. As a consequence, gasoline prices on international stock exchanges rose by about $149 per ton and diesel fuel by $139 per ton during the reporting period. In addition, the exchange rate of the national currency against the U.S. dollar increased by about 0.2 lei. ANRE reiterated that the current mechanism of petroleum product price setting in Moldova is a reliable way to accurately reflect the evolution on the international market, both in periods of rising and falling prices, excluding any possibility for oil companies to interfere in the mechanism applied. "Thus, consumers in Moldova pay a fair price related to the realities of the day when they buy fuel," ANRE stresses. // 05.05.2022 – InfoMarket
