Romania will soon produce more gas than it consumes and is ready to export it to Moldova and other countries.
Romanian Energy Minister Virgil Popescu stated this, noting that the list of states where Romania intends to export surplus natural gas includes Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, but first of all Moldova. He noted that the more than $1 billion deal, through which Romgaz bought Exxon's stake in the Neptun Deep perimeter in the Black Sea, gives Romania the opportunity to become a regional supplier of energy security. The minister estimates that the total amount of gas that can be produced in the Neptun Deep perimeter exceeds 100 billion cubic meters. "In fact, the Romanian state through Romgaz becomes part of this consortium together with the consortium from OMV-Petrom to produce gas in the Black Sea. There we could be talking about at least 100 billion cubic meters, we are talking about a quantity of gas that almost doubles Romania's production, which covers consumption and gives Romania the opportunity to become a regional supplier of energy security," the minister said. According to Virgil Popescu, Romania can extract up to 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the Black Sea. // 05.05.2022 - InfoMarket
