
Moldova (excluding Transnistria) in 2021, compared to 2020, increased the volume of natural gas purchases by 7% - up to 1 billion 205.7 million cubic meters.
The National Energy Regulatory (ANRE) reported that, at the same time, in value terms, the volume of gas purchases in January-December 2021, compared to the same period of the previous year, increased 2.2 times - from 2 billion 934.9 million to 6 billion 594.5 million lei. At the same time, the purchase price of gas in lei (MDL) terms increased 2.1 times over the year - from 2604 lei (excluding VAT) per 1 thousand cubic meters in 2020 to 5469 lei per 1 thousand cubic meters in 2021. According to ANRE, in 2021, compared to 2020, the volume of gas supplies to the end consumers of the country in physical terms increased by 15.2% - up to 1 billion 205.2 million cubic meters, and in value terms - increased by 40.6% - up to 6 billion 665.4 million lei. At the same time, the tariff for consumers increased by an average of 22.1% - from 4531 to 5531 lei per 1 thousand cubic meters. According to ANRE, in particular, in 2021, relative to the previous year, the population increased gas consumption in physical terms by 23.8% - from 372.7 million to 461.6 million cubic meters, and in monetary terms, the indicator increased by 52.3% - from 1 billion 875.9 million to 2 billion 857.9 million lei. Energy sector enterprises in January-December 2021 used 390.9 million cubic meters of gas worth 2 billion 009.8 million lei. At the same time, compared to the same period of the previous year, their gas consumption in 2021 increased by 5.2% in physical terms, and increased by 24.8% in monetary terms. Gas consumption by budgetary institutions increased by 24.1% in physical terms, as well as by 42.4% in monetary terms. They used 51.5 million cubic meters of gas in 2021 worth 288.8 million lei.
